This is basically my rendersnake script, but with none of the fancy renderfarm code. This will allow you to render a maya scene by dragging and dropping the maya scene file icon onto the randersnake .bat file. Your render will start automatically with all the settings you had in maya. Best of all, it runs faster because we are only initializing mental ray instead of the entire program.
Note: Only for Mental Ray. If someone absolutely needs maya software rendered, just send me an email, or if you know how, just modify this very simple script. Delete the following bit of code: "-r mr" The renderer will default to software render.
Instructions:
Save this .bat file wherever you want. (I just have it on my desktop)
Before using rendersnake, set up your settings, lighting, render layers, ect. inside of maya as if you were getting ready to render. Save this file and feel free to exit maya.
Drag your .mb or .ma file icon onto the rendersnake.bat icon. Rendering will begin automatically.
